Pays Basque

My friend Christine jumps on every opportunity to head down to the well known region of “Pays Basque”. I now know why.

Back in May (I know, it’s been a while), Julien and I headed South to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Biarritz and San Sebastian, mostly for one reason : eat.

We managed to squeeze in some walks on the beach and a hike on La Rhune (need I mention Julien got us started on the wrong path, not once, but twice ?) to justify our dinners at Elements and Carøe, the exquisite lunch at Casa Julian, the cheesecake at La Viña, and the sweet treats from Maison Pariès (gâteau basque and kanougas, of course), smoothies from Akeita, and breaks in the sun at Maitena.
