I don’t know if you remember but about a year ago I was booking my very first trip to Amsterdam. I spent 3 days exploring the city of cycles, visiting museums, Anne Frank’s house and doing all things touristy.
I was really glad to go back this year, even if it was just for 36 hours, to visit my good friend Coline who lived in Cameroun at the same time I did, and who I have known since I was 4. Although she was busy with her internship during the day, it gave me time to wander around the streets of Amsterdam, sit down in many (many!) cafés, eat fresh stroopwaffles and simply enjoy Amsterdam life. On the sunny Thursday, I strolled around the flower market where I was lucky to see beautiful tulips in bloom (I would have killed to see the Keukenhof gardens but unfortunately arrived 4 days after it closed for the year…) and on the rainy Friday I found shelter in the impressive Rijksmuseum.
I had the best time watching people cycle across canals, chilling in the sun on terraces, and living their life, imagining how pleasant it would be to settle down in such a charming city and thinking of making those getaways to Amsterdam an annual thing.
