Had you told me a week ago we would see our beautiful spring days disappear under the rain, and our favourite spots for rosé, promenades and picnics disappear under water, I would not have believed you. I am now receiving notifications from Le Monde, informing me the Louvre is closing this Friday to move and protect pieces of art from the water and it is making me worried we won’t be having apéro on the Ile de la Cité or goûter on the Ile Saint Louis anytime soon. Instead, we’ll be indoors, turning the heaters on and adding layers over layers to stay warm. What a way to spend June in Paris!
While we wait for the sun and the quais to re-appear, here’s a nostalgic photo of sunny Sundays crossing the Pont Saint-Louis, hoping we’ll still be able to feel festive in the first month of summer, despite our wet feet.
