This is exactly the kind of place where you must go for lunch or dinner in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s not your standard western restaurant, but it’s the real deal. No AC, just fans. Simple ingredients, simple kitchen, simple setting and simply delicious.
The ritual goes as follows: you sit down, they bring you some fresh wipes for you to clean your hands, with a small bowl of chilli and a big plate of garnish (herbs, bean sprouts, lime wedges). You order food and drink and five minutes later you’re eating. It’s quick, efficient and some of the best stuff you’ll eat in Saigon. Quán 94 is specialised in crab meat so go for it: crab cha gio (spring rolls), sauteed noodles with crab, and we even had clams steamed with lemon grass. Your life is now complete, you can grow old and tell your grandchildren you’ve lived.

Drink wise, go for Tiger Bia (Vietnamese beer), or nuoc rau ma: wherever you go in the world, a green drink is always a good boost.
