Healthy PB&J for breakfast!

Peanut butter and strawberry jam. Need I say more? The ultimate combination for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Unfortunately, PB&J sandwich, or French toasts, or cookies are not the healthiest treats :( Why is good food so bad?? However! I thought of a way to make it a little more guilt-free by twisting a smoothie recipe!
IMG_3903That’s right! A tasty AND healthy PB&J smoothie for breakfast to start the day on the perfect note!
How is it healthy you ask? I have to reveal a little secret… As much as I love smooth, organic peanut butter (that I eat by the spoon) I cannot treat myself with it every day, for the simpler reason that it’s a lot of fat. BUT! This crazy peanut butter powder, PB2, is a life saver when you still want to enjoy the flavour of your life-essential spread with less guilt. Indeed, it’s got much less calories and no fat. All you have to do is mix it with a little water and there you go! Healthier peanut butter spread. I will admit though that it is not nearly as nice as Whole Earth peanut butter *sighs*. I prefer the chocolate PB2 to spread and reserve the regular PB2 to add peanut butter flavour to other things, such as smoothies, or sauces. So it’s perfect in the case of PB&J smoothie! You can buy it in Whole Foods store or on Amazon.

You will need:

-1 banana
-a splash of unsweetened almond milk (the amount will depend on how runny you like your smoothie
-2 big handfuls of frozen strawberries
-1 to 2 tbsp of regular PB2

Throw everything in your blender and crush those ingredients to a smooth drink.
